As a Civil Drafter with Caltech, you will be responsible for the development and preparation of survey drawings and geospatial deliverables to assist with projects related to well sites, subdivisions, pipelines, individual ownership, and crossing plans Data Processing Handling, processing, and extracting data from 3D data such as lidar and/or imagery. Interpret field notes, sketches, legal plans, air photos, and digital data. Complete survey computations including GPS, conventional data processing and calculations necessary for establishing legal boundaries and construction layouts. Drafting Operating computer-assisted design (CAD) and drafting workstations. Completing documentation packages and produce drawing sets. Creating a variety of deliverables using AutoCAD Civil3D Volume analysis, quantity take-offs and project estimates Provide remote support for construction projects Ensuring drafting standards, procedures, overall data quality, and integrity are met. Quality Checks Review completed surfaces for completeness, accuracy, and ensure they meet project & client specifications. Assess the accuracy of deliverables and produce reports to verify the accuracy. Ensure standards, procedures, overall data quality, and integrity are met.   What do you need to succeed in this role? Completion of the Geomatics diploma program / Engineering Design and Drafting Technology diploma and/or equivalent experience. Advanced knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D Experience in MS Word and Excel is an asset Experience working with 3D lidar data Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit and Global Mapper software. Active participation in Caltech Survey Ltd.’s health and safety program. Ability to identify and set priorities and possess effective time management skills. As a Plan Checker, you will be responsible for the quality assurance & quality control of the Survey Plans received from the CAD department. You will ensure plans are correct and that they conform to Caltech’s high internal standards, Federal, Provincial & Municipal regulations, industry licensing requirements and Land Titles registration requirements. Your duties will include: Ensure overall quality assurance & quality control of Plans; Review Plans for completeness & accuracy using Caltech & industry standards of practice; including applicable provincial land surveying Acts, Manual of Standard Practice & industry licensing requirements; Conduct calculations & comparisons to ensure Plan numerical information is correct and that data is based on the correct governing evidence assessment; Note errors & omissions on the Plans and note modifications; Ensure survey data processing was done correctly; Review titles & all title documents; check with appropriate land titles and/or crown Public Land Standing Report; Communicate with Field Crew and / or Project Manager to verify information; Complete the Plan Checker Checklist; Maintain familiarity with current survey & checking techniques, as well as maintain current knowledge of legislation and codes and suggest updates to quality control checklists as needed; Other duties are required. . What do you need to succeed in this role? Diploma in Geomatics Technology, OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Working knowledge of AutoCAD & / or Microsurvey coordinate calculation software. Active participation in Caltech Survey Ltd.’s health and safety program. Strong commitment to excellence, attention to detail and time management. It would also be an asset if you had: Experience with wellsite and pipeline surveys for the oil & gas industry. Familiarity with pipeline project CAD products such as legal survey plans, construction survey plans & as-built data. Your duties will include: Interpreting field notes, sketches, legal plans, air photos, and digital data; Completing survey computations including GPS, conventional data processing and calculations necessary for establishing legal boundaries and construction layouts; Operating computer-assisted design (CAD) and drafting workstations; Preparing plans to be submitted to the Land Registry Office and Sustainable Resources Development; Completing documentation packages and produce drawing sets; Completing general mapping and drafting duties including CAD and ArcGIS mapping; Ensuring drafting standards, procedures, overall data quality, and integrity are met; Completing first office checks of all existing and proposed wells, pipelines, legals, etc. by using government sites such as ISC and IRIS; Ensuring everything required of the field survey has been completed and is correct. Contact with field crews for missing sightlines, field conditions, etc.   What do you need to succeed in this role? Completion of the Geomatics diploma program / Engineering Design and Drafting Technology diploma and/or equivalent experience; 2 - 5 years’ experience drafting or mapping legal plans and oil and gas plans (Intermediate CAD Technician), 5+ years experience (Senior CAD Technician) Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil 3-D and/or Microsurvey coordinate calculation software; Experience with processing survey data (Trimble preferably); Active participation in Caltech Survey Ltd.’s health and safety program; Have the ability to identify and set priorities and possess effective time management skills; Excellent written and verbal communication skills; Strong commitment to excellence, attention to detail and professional development. It would also be an asset if you had: Experience with ESRI ArcGIS Software; Understanding of Western Canada Township setup (DLS); Understanding of field survey and traversing; Prior field experience; An understanding of the requirements for plan submissions to ISC and/or Sustainable Resource Development.   Interested in hearing more?
