Meet the Manitoba Team!
In 2011, Caltech expanded into Manitoba with its first office in the southwest corner of the province in Virden. Since then, we have continued to strengthen our prairie roots by acquiring Prairie Benchmark Land Surveys and expanding further into Manitoba with the opening of our newest office in Brandon in 2021.
The strength of our continued presence in Manitoba comes from our people, and today we want to introduce you to the Manitoba project management team. These three gentlemen are responsible for kicking off projects, confirming your project needs and required resources, and providing results-driven geomatics solutions to position you for success.

Brendan Wood – Operations Director, Manitoba
As the Operations Director for our Manitoba operations, Brendan is responsible for keeping our production and field teams running smoothly for all the projects in the province. Brendan began his career in 2009 as a survey party chief, received his MLS (Manitoba Land Surveyor) License in 2016, and quickly learned how to manage a team to successfully deliver complex projects.
Brendan was born and raised in Killarney and is very
familiar with Brandon and the surrounding area. His experiences in the area have shaped his passion for building a strong presence with great local people. When he isn’t guaranteeing that project timelines are met, you will find him hitting balls at the local golf course or riding the snowmobile or quad on the trails.
Derek Arthur – Project Manager
Since beginning his land surveying career in 2004, Derek has developed into a strong project manager and Manitoba Land Surveyor. Derek received his MLS (Manitoba Land Surveyor) License in 2017. He gained the majority of his survey experience in the oil and gas industry, and his expertise has greatly expanded to gain experience in the municipal and construction industries.
Derek grew up in Deloraine, where he acquired his love for the outdoors. You can usually find him hunting, fishing, or out on the ice setting up guards or shooting pucks at the local curling/hockey rink.
Craig Rinn – Project Manager
With nearly 30 years of industry experience, Craig is an expert in managing oil and gas or construction survey projects. He has had the opportunity to complete various projects across Western Canada throughout the years, focusing on pipelines, well sites, and construction surveys.
Craig grew up in Morden and takes pride in being a local Manitoban. When he isn’t finding solutions for project needs, he enjoys spending time with his family or hunting and fishing in the great outdoors. Craig is also quite a Mr. Fixit completing various home improvement projects in his spare time!
